My Thoughts On The Site's Skin
Wassup old followers, new followers, and visitors lol,
you might've realized I've done this year's Christmas site skin, and I'm so happy to get a second chance at doing it. and grateful too, not a lot of people can say they've been the person behind the art for the website. however i don't want it to feel too cheesy and biased, so i've noticed that while some do enjoy the art, others feel like the skin should show more support to other communities/games/characters besides funkin' stuff.
AND I AGREE!
while funkin' is a good game itself, it shouldn't really be the sites "symbol" and to show more love to others mediums. i think it's safe to mention that i became aware of newgrounds existence had it not been for funkin'. now before you toss tomatoes at me lol, i do wanna say that yeah, I can see how a newcomer like me who's only knowledge probably might've been fnf.
and i want to make a change to that, I'm super open to hearing out the lore of newgrounds because i really am starting to get into the community a bit more seriously this time around. i wanted to help make the site as cool as it can be so if you wanna help with that too, i think suggestions on games/people/characters that you think was popular this year, or in general that deserves to have a spot in the artwork for the site's skin.
and as for me, hopefully i can manage to get tom's approval to change the site's skin to something more suitable before Christmas actually hits.
with that being said...
LEMME KNOW YOUR IDEAS AND SUGGESTIONS!!!
EDIT (12/4/24):
I read all your comments and feedback, thanks so much for all of it, honestly! I am working on creating more characters and doing some fixes for it so we can end the year off a lil more uhh what's the word... thoughtfully? LOL
Osaka
I imagine a blend of both classic & currently popular NG mascots, adorned with Santa hats and eating gingerbread cookies while sipping some cider or cocoa, with all the characters interweaved together with multicolored Christmas lights and a warm blue frost background throughout, peppered with daintily floating snow.
Something that is modern and homey feeling, but also in a way showing homage towards the classic site color palette of pre-2012 winter themed site design.
